Personality: Emmy is a headstrong young woman filled with determination and a passion for life. She's rarely seen without her trusty camera within close reach, and enjoys taking photos of all the interesting things she sees on her travels, whether they be relevant to the case at hand, or just a pretty piece of architecture. There's almost a kind of naive quality to her, in the way she sees the world; for Emmy, things are fairly black and white rather than shades of grey. Her respect for Professor Layton was born from the fact that he, despite her tomboyish demeanor, treated her like a lady. From that moment on, she possessed an unshakable respect for him, in response to the respect he showed her.

She dives into her new career as Layton's assistant with a positive attitude and a drive to succeed. Adventurous, bright and darn good on a scooter (if she says so herself!), Emmy's fierce and fiery enthusiasm has proved to be an excellent match with Professor Layton's smooth, calm logic. She attacks any puzzle sent her way with quiet determination, and always feels a sense of joy (and maybe a smidgen of smugness) upon successful solving.

With that determination and drive, however, comes a sharp dislike of failure. In her own words, Emmy hates being wrong, and can occasionally find herself frustrated when incapable of solving a particularly difficult puzzle, to the point where she doubts herself and her ability to be a good assistant to the professor. She endeavours to ensure this side of her personality isn't revealed to either Layton or Luke.

One of her major strengths is her competence at martial arts, which makes her a very valuable asset. She is capable of defeating opponents twice her size with a single well-placed kick, and often uses her skills throughout her adventures with the professor. Emmy displays a calm confidence when a dangerous situation arrives, and is quick to act if her fighting skills are needed, no matter the foe. She is also exceptionally athletic, and capable of chasing a suspect across rooftops if needs be, with her typical determination, although she usually hesitates to think before charging off, usually to her boss's chagrin.

All in all, Emmy is a kind-hearted girl who would do anything for her friends, and despite her rough-and-tumble exterior, often likes to indulge the boys (and herself, of course!) with a bit of cooking. After all, solving all those tricky puzzles can sure work up an appetite!

Strengths/Weaknesses:

+ Courageous: Emmy has no problem taking on the most terrifying of foes with just her fists and feet!
+ Optimistic: She tends to look on the bright side more often than not.
+ Confident: Whether fighting a villian or just having a friendly chat, Emmy oozes confidence and charm.
+ Helpful: She likes to assist in any way she can, and not just for the Professor - she's taken down a crook or two for the local police force.
+ Driven: Emmy's determination to succeed and get the job done is one of her strongest characteristics. She won't back down from a challenge!

+/- Not a morning person: Despite all her athleticism and drive, Emmy isn't the biggest fan of early starts, and sometimes has difficulty awakening quickly.
+/- A large appetite: While a healthy appetite is a positive thing, Emmy can get hit pretty hard by hunger when it's been a while between meals.

- Rash: She has a tendency to leap into situations without fully considering the consequences or thinking things through.
- Quick to anger: It doesn't take much to get Emmy angry, particularly if she feels something is unjust.
- Impatient: Emmy is a woman of action who dislikes having nothing to do, as witnessed by her annoyance when forced to sit around waiting for Misthallery's specter to appear.

Samples
First Person Sample:

[[With a flicker of static, a concerned young woman comes into view, peering into the screen. Behind her, a Machop is also staring into the camera, albeit with a more positive expression.]]

That appears to have done it...not that tricky of a puzzle, all things considered. Hello? Professor? Luke? Anyone?

[[Frowning slightly, the girl casts a somewhat concerned look at the Pokemon beaming beside her, before furrowing her brow, appearing to be deep in thought.]]

I think I'm alone, but...where? What is this place?

[[The serious look lasts another two seconds before her expression changes to a perky smile, and she looks down at the Pokemon.]]

Well, if I am alone, perhaps that could mean that this is the big puzzle I'm destined to solve! The professor did mention something like that for himself, so why not for me! I can use this as training to become the best assistant he's ever had!

My first challenge, however, will be unraveling the mystery of you...whatever you are...

[[-and her focus shifts once again to the Machop, who promptly cries happily and punches her in the arm, causing her to drop the device into what appears to be grass.]]

Hey, what was-oh, you...? You want to fight? ....

[[The image is now at an awkward angle, and somewhat obscured by blades of grass, but the shape of the girl and her new Pokemon can still be seen.]]

I've never been one to back down from a challenge! Let's go!

[[In the ensuing melee, the device is knocked aside, but the audio is still clear; the sounds of laughter and scuffling ringing through the feed before a final knock cuts it off.]]

Third Person Sample: While not quite having the charm and style of her trusty scooter, there was something adorably rustic about traveling around on a bicycle, Emmy thought to herself. In a way, it allowed her to get her mind deeper into the puzzle that was this strange world; having her scooter would remind her far too much of London! At least, that's what she told herself when forced to pedal up a slope. Why were there so many slopes, anyway?

At least Machop was happy, perched in her basket on the front of the bike. Emmy still wasn't quite sure what she thought of the Pokemon, but they got along like a house on fire, and that was what mattered. Besides, it was nice to have some companionship in this strange world, particularly since the Professor and assistant numero duo-sorry, apprentice number one, were nowhere to be found.

Emmy found that she actually missed Luke a lot more than she thought; their playful banter always helped to keep her mind active. Machop, while lovely to spar with, wasn't that much of a conversationalist. So Emmy had taken to talking outloud to herself when the silence got to be too much.

Of course, there were plenty of other people around she could talk to! It was just these long bike journies where it got...well, a little....lonely, almost. But! There was no sense in feeling sorry for herself! She was absolutely determined to solve the puzzle that was the Pokemon world, and silly little things like loneliness would only get in the way! What on earth would the professor think?

Thinking of the professor made her think back to their previous few adventures. Oh, if only this world could turn out to be another elaborate scheme of Descoles! That would certainly make things easier. But at the same time, there would also be a bit of...disappointment? In a way, Emmy wanted the secret of this world to be a massive big reveal, something she'd never except in a million years! Something the professor would be proud to see her solve! Having someone like Descole being the root of the mystery (again...) would just be tedious.

Well, as long as there were no giant mechas on her horizon, Emmy felt she could handle anything.

And Machop only made the feeling intensify.
