PUZZLE 001 [ROUTE 29 - VIDEO/ACTION]
[[With a flicker of static, a concerned young woman comes into view, peering into the screen. Behind her, a Machop is also staring into the camera, albeit with a more positive expression.]]
That appears to have done it...not that tricky of a puzzle, all things considered. Hello? Professor? Luke? Anyone?
[[Frowning slightly, the girl casts a somewhat concerned look at the Pokemon beaming beside her, before furrowing her brow, appearing to be deep in thought.]]
I think I'm alone, but...where? What is this place?
[[The serious look lasts another two seconds before her expression changes to a perky smile, and she looks down at the Pokemon.]]
Well, if I am alone, perhaps that could mean that this is the big puzzle I'm destined to solve! The professor did mention something like that for himself, so why not for me! I can use this as training to become the best assistant he's ever had!
My first challenge, however, will be unraveling the mystery of you...whatever you are...
[[-and her focus shifts once again to the Machop, who promptly cries happily and kicks her arm!]]
Ow! What was tha-....ooh, do you...you want to fight?
...
[[Congratulations, you are now being treated to the (albeit distorted) sight of a woman sparring with a Machop! Emmy appears to have forgotten she's left the PGC on; she's too busy laughing and combatting Machop's strikes with practiced ease. Feel free to interrupt, although be prepared to yell; they're rather involved with their 'battle'!]]

...well one who isn't furiously kicking her out of a house, anyway]]
Ah, hello there! Did you say you could help me? My name is Emmy!
[[Hopefully she doesn't sound
too desperate there]]
Emmy, then; it's quite the pleasure. My name is Solf J. Kimblee - I assume you've just arrived?
no subject
Yes, just now! The lady in the house wasn't...overly pleased to see me, but I have no idea how I ended up in that bed!
It's lovely to meet you however, Mr Kimblee! I'm Emmy Altava, Profe-
[[....oh shoot, what if he doesn't know who the Professor is?
....no, that's just silly!]]
Professor Layton's assistant!
no subject
Layton? You wouldn't happen to be referring to the gentleman in the rather impressive top hat, by any chance...?
no subject
Ah, yes! That's the one! Do you know him, by any chance?
no subject
I'm afraid I don't know him to talk to - I've heard his name here and there, and I believe I may have seen him once, in the company of someone I was doing business with. A fellow named Xanxus, specifically, he was horribly abrasive...I don't suppose you know him as well?
no subject
Xanxus? No, I can't say I've ever heard of him. But if he was with the Professor then he can't be all that bad!
...while we're on the topic, where....is here, exactly?
no subject
I'll ask you to humor me and tell me where you came from, first. It's relevant, I promise.
[You are certainly not from Amestris, that's for sure - what on earth are you wearing?]
no subject
[[And hey, this happens to be both practical and chic! That's a hard combo to master!]]
no subject
I mean, is it a very short dress with opaque tights? Is it a coat with leggings? Is that white thing you have on under the coat a separate very short shirt or is it just a coat with a design on it and why the hell does it have a bow tie on it, those things are for men -
...no really what on earth are you wearing]
I can't say I've heard of anyplace like that at all, so I would assume not.
Regardless of how utterly vapid this is going to sound, it seems that we've been transported somewhere else entirely; they call it "Johto", and it appears to be entirely different from any place that most people here have come from.
no subject
...and she likes her pink bowtie, ok! Hmph. Some people!]]
Johto?
[[Well that managed to create more questions than it answered.]]
So...what about Machop? What....is...
[[...oh honey are you are girl or a boy
jfc just call her Professor Oak]]
no subject
Well, if you received it upon first arriving here, I'd say that's your - [chimer- ..........no, no, that tends to give people the wrong idea. Hold on, old habits die rather hard] ...they call it a Pokémon; no, unfortunately, I don't know what that's supposed to mean. Think of it as an incredibly loyal pet; it will likely follow you around, and it will be very fond of you if you treat it well. As far as anyone can tell, we're intended to raise them. Look after them, train them, ensure that they gain experience from battling other creatures like them.
I'm not very familiar with that species you have; it certainly seems interesting, at any rate.

[[Machop you can have a headpat! You fought bravely!]]
Do you have a Pokémon, Mr Kimblee?
1/2
well
she's taking all of this rather well, isn't she]
no subject
Ah, yes, I do, actually - everyone appears to have been given one upon waking up here, and I've obtained several more along the way.
I find it fascinating that you spar with yours yourself, however; most don't seem to do that around here. It's an interesting choice, Miss Altava, and one that I can't say I disagree with.
no subject
Several more? That sounds like quite a handful! I don't know if I could spar with that many at once....I'd certainly give it a shot, though...
[[And she'll...actually look quite surprised at that revelation, there.]]
...you mean you're not supposed to train with them? You weren't....you mean we actually have to have them battle one another? I'd much rather fight them myself!

[Emmy, don't make Kimblee try to figure out exactly how many points he would get from setting his chimeras on poor goddamn Archer. Please, think of Archer.]
no subject
Either way, however, I don't see any harm in continuing to train with them yourself; it's certainly a useful way to pass the time here, at any rate!
no subject
....it's going to take some time getting used to this....
[[no but
i want to fight all the pokemons tho >:]]
Besides, I'm not used to letting my friends fight for me...
no subject
If our paths happen to cross, perhaps we ought to discuss this in person sometime - might I ask where you are?
no subject
[[Brb, looking around!]]
Route...29! Is that any help?
no subject
There's a place known as Goldenrod City; the route immediately to the south of it is Route 34. Once you reach either of those places, let me know.
no subject
....ah, I suppose that means I'll have to work out how to...save you in this thing, or something...
[[....omg a puzzle]]
I'll work it out!
