[[In order to ensure she catches up to the Professor and co. as soon as possible, Emmy has taken to travelling at night. This has usually failed to present any real issues, but tonight, as she heads to the route just outside Cherrygrove, she finds something that....well.

[[It's a Spinarak! Which is unfortunate for Emmy, as she happens to be quite arachnophobic. The Pokemon doesn't quite seem to realise that her screaming isn't an invitation to come closer, as it happily starts to approach her to say hello-]]

[[Wild Spinarak fainted! Emmy...didn't...really gain anything, um.

Wow, it's adorable! I wonder how many different types of Pokemon there are out there? In all honesty, I'm a little concerned; a friend of mine told me that I need to train mine up so they can fight these 'Gym Leaders', but....well, I hope they don't have really big creepy ones, or something!

I've heard the first Gym Leader uses only Pokemon that fly. That doesn't sound like there's anything creepy about that.

Only what I've heard from others and scavenged from books.

It seems that each Gym Leader utilizes one specific type of Pokemon. The first you'll encounter, for example, uses only those that fly.

And they tend to get harder to defeat as you travel. So it does become quite the challenge!
